Dream Travel Destination: Austria part 2

Dream Travel Destination: Austria part 2

My last article about Austria just talked about why I wanted to go to Austria.. but the details are left for Austria part 2.. It kinda breaks my heart drafting this itinerary knowing that my travel funds still have a loOong way to go but hey, I believe in angels and I believe that dreams come true. ^_^

1. First and foremost, I’d avail all free things that the country has to offer. Apparently, there are free entrance to churches, markets, gardens, parks and galleries in Austria. This will let me feed my wanderlust to indulge in great architecture, art, shopping and history. Check out the Austrian Cathedral in Vienna and the church in Insbruck.. aren’t they marvelous?

2. I’d go on a skiing holidays in Austria. I haven’t been in a country that snows and last seen an actual snow when I was in Darjeeling, India… the snow capped mountains was about half inch only.. and that’s about it. Hopefully when I go to Austria, I’ll get to enjoy the bliss of snow.

3. I’ll watch out for Vienna open air opera and Music Film Festival Vienna so I need to make sure I’ll be there in September. I used to play Mozart piano pieces when I was young, would be great to walk in the place where this great composer once lived.

4. Go to the place where the movie Sound of Music was shot.. then once in the hills are alive, I’m gonna sing.. the hills are alive :D.. and “how do you solve a problem like this grasya?”

5. Eat a heuriger, wiener schnitzel and other traditional foods in Austria.. not so much of a wine drinker but wouldn’t hurt to taste some wine. Eating should always be part of my trip because foods and drinks are different in each country.

6. Austria is now the leading European Country for sustainable agriculture with nearly 10% organic production so when I go there, I must make sure I do woofing. For those interested in farms, you should google woof and see how it can enable you to travel. ^_^

So that’s about it. At least I have a draft itinerary once I get to Austria. How about you? Do you have any plans on what to do in Austria?

Travel Dream Destination: Turkey

Aside from Germany and Austria, (and Italy, England, Lithuania, Norway etc etc).. one my favorite dream destination in that part of the world is Turkey.

This Eurasian country is located in Western Asia and in Southeastern Europe.
Bordering countries are Bulgaria to the Northwest, Greece to the west, Georgia to the northeast, Iran to the east, then Iraq and Syria to the Southeast.

One of the many reasons why I look forward to travel in Turkey is:

1. I want to go to Cappodocia. Cappadocia is an area in Central Anatolia in Turkey. It is best known for its unique moon-like landscape, underground cities, cave churches and houses carved in the rocks.
There’s nothing like that in places where I’ve went so I want to marvel at those rock houses.. they are such great architectural landscapes.

2. I want to try hotsprings in Pamukkale. These are mineral waters that spring from the earth then cascade over a steep cliff, forming gleaming pools. Similar to other mineral hot springs that are found around the world, the waters are thought to help cure skin diseases, nervous disorders, heart disease and circulatory issues.
Really, nature did an awesome job designing those pools!

3. I want to visit Istanbul, one of the three European capitals of culture in 2010. Aside from Ottoman mosques, I want to see the art galleries and museums of this so called world’s hippest city..

then maybe, I’ll buy a piece of art which has become a hobby in every country that I go to.

4. I want to visit ancient ruins, and underground cities. I love to visit cities that have been destroyed by Mother Nature. It should teach humankind a lesson or two. The largest underground city is apparently found in Turkey so would love to visit that too.

5. I want to meet friends there. It’s more fun when you’ve got friends from every corner of the world to share fun with don’t you think?

6. The last reason why I wanted to travel to Turkey is because I just want to travel.. to anywhere ^_^.. aint that reason enough?

Dream Travel Destination: Australia

Dream Travel Destination: Australia

Australia is the nearest continent from where I am at the moment… and even before the opportunity comes for me to travel in that country, I must take steps to draft my dream itinerary just in case fairies who grants wishes drops by this page ;)

First order, I’d start out checking flights to Perth coz I wish to start the adventure from the West first.

Upon research, it has been said that Perth is the most remote city on earth… hrrmm so my secret paradise in the Philippines is not yet the most remote? Interesting..

Then I’d like to see Australia in Yellow.. just 2 hours from Perth is the Pinnacles. These pieces of rock formation sprouted from the yellow desert sands looks amazing.. looks like you are walking on the moon or in another planet..

Then after the West, I’d go see Central Australia in orange-red colors thru Mt Uluru.. I’ll stare and reflect at the huge object and note to myself.. how lovely indeed is this Earth, our dwelling place..

Then I’d go down South and see Australia in pretty pink.

The picture above is in Silcrete Island – Lake Eyre, South of Australia. An algae was supposedly the reason behind why the water is pink… I do wonder if instead of blue, the ocean’s color turns out pink instead.. could be a pretty color :D

And then the last pit stop (subject to change of course) would be Sydney to see Australia in White thru the Opera House. Some friends lived there, so might as well do some catching up on life…  might as well go on a road trip around the beautiful city.

So there goes my dream itinerary dear folks.. looking forward to making this dream come true ^_^.. how about you? Are there places you want to go in Australia?

Dream Travel Destination: Austria

I know, its overdue dear Austria.

Your place seemed magnificent, like a heaven here on earth that everyone would like to see.. I should have been there a long time ago.. But like the typical Filipina, I hold back.. Just to make sure everything will be in perfect timing.

Why do I want to visit you? Because..

1. I wanna travel. Go around. Experience the world because we only live once on earth, might as well roam it before leaving.

2. A dear sole sister, Vera Wihan, lives there. We’ve been friends since 2004 (or was it 2005?) when she went to the Philippines. We toured the Philippines together. After that, we had reunions in Vietnam and in Thailand… this time around, I want to see her in her own country.

3. I want to go to a country where the  movie Sound of Music was taken. Its my favorite movie when I was a child when Beta-max was still existing.. Once in Austria, I’m gonna hum – “how do you solve the problem of this grasya”~~

4. I wanna see and observe how people are living in Vienna. See the goodness in life there so I can bring the good back to my country.

5. Coz I wanna give myself a gift of travel… aint that reason enough? ^_^

Dream Travel Destination: England

I’ve known friends and relatives crossed England on their checklists of places to see while in Europe. And I have yet to set foot in the European continent. So while I’m not yet there, let me dream about things to do in England.

1. Go to London, England’s capital.. then sing London Bridge is falling down. Seriously. When you say London, this song comes to my head… so why not sing the kiddie song once I’m in the bridge while taking a picture of it. This one is a picture taken by my cousin:

2. Visit Stonehenge. Stonehenge, one of the most famous sites in the world, used to be a burial ground. Interesting to see how it looks like in reality. Which makes me think of ghost hunting there as well xD.. but I’m blessed with a closed third eye so good luck with that.

3. Visit Oxford. A dear fairy whom I met in India went to University in Oxford. Shame I wasnt able to go visit while she was studying there.. but once I’m in the place, I’m just gonna smile, reminisce, take a picture, and say.. at last! after 10 thousand years!

4. Meet with friends and family. Its not all sight seeing, I want to be there because I have friends and family there.. and want to bond with them and catch up with life.

5. Discover the countryside.. I live in far flung places, and ironically, whenever I go out of my country, I enjoy such places too.. They are away from everything but peace and serenity creates a feeling of contentment.. This is a snapshot of my hidden paradise… wonder what my happy place looks like when I get to the other side.

6. Travel the country slowly.. Hang out at small coffee shops, discover the country side via a bike, learn cuisines. I’d like to enjoy England in a relaxing way.

7. Awe at castles, shake hands and do small talk with the Queen. I’m allowed to dream right?

So what else do you think I should do once in England? ^_^
