This pretty girl does not really have a frugal tip because she travels for free… Why? Because she works in a ship and travel is part of her work, isn’t it great? ^_^
You might be thinking of work where she sails around the Baltic seas, explore islands off the UK’s coasts, or gaze at the Northern Lights from a cruise around Scandinavia. But apparently, she does not work in a luxury ship.. At least she gets to travel. ^_^ Read on and let’s get more women on ships.
1. Can you tell me something about yourself? Occupation/hobbies/etc
Im Zali Calupaz,22 yrs old. A graduate of BS Marine Transportation & Engineering at the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific but pursued marine engineering due to demand. I was sponsored by Maerskline and now about to join their fleet as 4th Engineer.
I was born in San Fernando, Pampanga but grew up in Puerto Galera, Or. Mindoro. 4th of 6 siblings and the only seaman in the family. I became a seafarer because I couldn’t let pass MAAPs outstanding offers.
2. How many countries have you been so far? Which is your favorite and why?
I’ve been in LA, California. Japan, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Egypt, Spain (Barcelona, Valencia, Algeciras) Rotterdam, Bremerhaven Germany, Felixstow UK, Morroco..
3. How do you fund your travels?
Well its not a luxury travel..my travels are for work purposes.. I board a plane to join my respective vessel and that is funded by my company.. and other places I’ve been are itinerary of my vessel.
4. What are your plans in the future?
Well, im focusing on my brother who has special needs. i want to put him in a good school and provide for his medical needs. so far thats my goal..and to have our house in the province renovated. for my personal plans, none yet.. family first.
5. How can you make the world a better place?
By being competent in my profession and by being kind to people. since i work with different nationalities ill be able to show them the good qualities of Filipinos.
6. Lastly, any frugal travel tips you want to share?
I don’t really have a frugal tip since i travel for free..but when i go on shoreleave and go around, I don’t go gaga over stuff that you see abroad and buy them impulsively. i still weigh their value and if its worth it or if i can use it.
